10 days or less

Baby's coming any day now. My due date is only 10 days away, but I wouldn't mind having the baby a week early. Sunday morning, my husband's cousin Iris had her baby girl, Allison. I got to spend a lot of time at the hospital with her and the baby. Allison is 6lbs 14oz and 19inches long. She has black hair and very dark brown eyes. I got to hold her and change her teeny, tiny, little diaper. I can't wait to have my own little girl.

No, I haven't had the baby yet.

I have 3 weeks left until my due date and that's probably when I'm going to go into labor. Baby is doing well; she's moving around, but more squirming than kicking.

Due to the fact that I am currently unemployed with school being out for the summer, I've been told by one of the county agencies that is providing me with assistance that I need to get a job now. Who's gonna hire a woman who could go into labor any day now? That's ridiculous! My husband really needs to get a job soon.

The good news is we have most of the things we need for the baby and our AC is working. I'm healthy and the baby is healthy. Baby is head down. Hospital bag is packed. Birth plan completed. I have icecream.

My next blog will most likely be after I have the baby...stay tuned.

Planning for the future

This is something I'm not so great at.
Last month the questions everyone was asking me were:
"How many weeks left?"
"Have you picked out a name, yet?"
"Are you ready for the baby?"

Now, I'm being asked:
"Are you going to work at the school again in the fall?"
"How are you feeling?"
"What are you going to do(financially) when the baby comes?"
"When are you going to go back to work after you have the baby?"

My options as of now are to get my short-call sub liscense and do that in the fall or be a stay-at-home mom and have a business out of my home with my mom.
If people would look at what my life has been like in the past year, they'd find out that I'm not much of a planner. At this time last year I was getting ready for college graduation and the choir trip to Europe. My aunt wanted me to help her open her restaurant in dowtown Minneapolis in the summer. I never thought I would have been unemployed so much and working at so many different places. Didn't think I'd get pregnant, have a miscarriage, get married and then get pregnant again. Life happens. You can only do so much planning and then you just have to go with what you believe is God's plan for you.

Only two more months...

I get to meet my little girl soon!
That is, I will be giving birth sometime around June 25th.

I'm excited to see her and hold her. Her daddy is too. I can't wait to see my husband with our little girl. When our baby is born I'll have a blog for her where you can look at pictures and read about her. Hmmm...maybe I should set that up today. On my next entry, I'll have the address for that blog.

Last Tuesday, I went to Women's Bible study and (Surprise!) they threw a baby shower for me. I was truly surprised and so happy. They are all such wonderful women and we had a great time. Next Saturday, two of my friends from high school are throwing me a shower for just my friends. It's too bad that all my friends from college live far away.

I've been working a lot more hours at the local schools, so I'm getting some money. With my husband out of work, money has been tight. I like working with the children in Special Ed. or those who need help with reading and math, but I can tell that my hormones are having a negative effect on my patience. Well, school's almost done.

Next month I won't be working and that's a good thing. At the rate my belly is growing, I'm going to be huge by June.

Have I got news for you!

It has been a while since my last post and a lot has happened.

First of all, I am no longer a toddler teacher at a daycare center as of February 17th. Due to the fact that I had a 45min commute, the cost of gas was at least a third of my paycheck, leaving little money to pay bills or get groceries. The second reason for my quitting has to do with my next bit of news for you.

I am pregnant and due June 25th, 2006, which makes me almost 27 weeks along.

You may be thinking that I could have continued working there while being pregnant, but pregnant women need to eat and rest. I was lucky if, during my ten hours of working, I got a half hour break for lunch. Nap time was when I had to scarf down my lunch, clean the room, and fill out evaluations of each child's day for the parents. It just wasn't good for my health.

What am I doing now? I've been substituting in the local school district as a pera professional. I really like it, although I wished they called me more to work. The past two weeks, I haven't been working, but that's okay because I was in the hospital for an infection and now I'm dealing with an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I was on.

Let's get back to the baby stuff. Olvyn and I found out last month that we are going to have a little girl. He thought we were going to have a boy and even dreamed about it. My doctor said that there still is a possibility of us having a boy because the ultrasound is not always right.

Take care and I will try to keep you posted on the baby stuff.
